Many find themselves searching for the thing they love and need… It’s the latest gadget, a new car, shoes, clothing or even a significant other. We’ve all fallen into the trap. We think, “I’ve gotta have this thing.” Just the act of searching brings us a new high and an excitement of something to look forward to. Then, once we go through the process and have our new something or other those honeymoon feelings quickly fade away. We, once again, find ourselves needing to look for the next new thing in order to to make us happy and feel better about ourselves.
We’ve all experienced this in many shapes and forms. So, why do we end up having these feelings only to find ourselves looking for the next new thing? It’s because the one thing we don’t realize is that none of these items or persons can truly satisfy us. Nothing of this world can fill the void that is felt in the depths of our being.
I have come to understand that I don’t need to search for a love that matters. A love that matters already exists, it’s your choice to reach for it and take hold of it… God is the love that matters. God’s love is the fulfilling love that we each desire and long for. It’s the love that fills our heart to overflowing with joy and hope, it makes us truly complete. God’s love will never disappoint us and will never leave us. He’s there waiting for us to choose a relationship with Him.
So, search no further, take hold of the love that matters. Seek God’s love in your heart and walk with Him daily. Take hold of His hand now, He’s stretching it out for you to grab so that He can draw you into His arms. He loves you and wants you to choose to have a relationship with Him. No matter who you are, what you look like, or what you’ve done, God loves you and desires you.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened.”
– Matthew 7:8 (MEV)
